Dr. Mimi Salamat is a clinical audiologist who has a Ph.D. in Audiology with a minor in Counseling. She also has two Master’s degrees, one in Speech-Language Pathology, and the other one in Audiology. Dr. Mimi’s post doctoral research has been in Cognitive and Speech Processing Difficulties. She is also specialized in Tinnitus (ringing in the ear) Management. She was formerly on the faculty at the Washington State University (WSU), Audiology program, and was a Senior Scientist at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Tinnitus Clinic.
Her papers have been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Audiology, a tier one peer reviewed scientific journal. Her dissertation (doctoral thesis) has won the best research award from the American Academy of Audiology. In addition, she has given numerous presentations at the national and international conferences and symposiums.
Throughout her professional career, Dr. Mimi has trained many audiologists and taken care of numerous patients with hearing, tinnitus, and balance disorders by prescribing hearing aids, auditory training, and rehabilitation techniques. She has the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA). Dr. Mimi has over 43 years of experience in the field of Audiology & Hearing Aid Technology. She also has Audiology and hearing aid dispensing licenses in five different states, including California. She currently is an audiologist in the Rossmoor area of Walnut Creek, California, in Contra Costa County.
On a personal note...
Dr. Mimi is an avid reader. She practices Mindfulness Meditation, Yoga and Pilates. She is an environmentalist and cares deeply about nature, clean air, water and soil. She loves music and dancing and takes classes in ballroom dancing. She lives in Rossmoor and plays pickleball and table tennis regularly.
She is also a Certified Laughter Yoga Instructor and has a Laughter Yoga class on the 1st Saturday of every other month (even months), as a service to her Mindful Meditation Club in Rossmoor. Lori has worked for many years in administrative roles in a variety of industries. Outside of work she loves being in nature hiking and appreciating the beauty of trees and the sounds of birds.
